Makaroina Me Kima

Ingredients | Serves 4

1/2 stick of butter

500g ground turkey meat (or beef mince)

1 yellow onion, finely chopped

2-3 garlic cloves, minced

1 tsp of allspice

1 tsp cinnamon

2 tsp oregano

Salt and pepper 

1-2 can of crushed tomatoes

Olive oil

1 tbsp tomato paste (optional)

Serve with spaghetti 


Method

  1. In a wide saucepan or a dutch oven brown the meat with a large knob of butter or 2 tbsp of olive oil. 

  2. Add the onion and garlic followed by the spices and oregano. Add plenty of salt and pepper. 

  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes to cover meat. If you need water to cover it, you can. Drizzle with olive oil and continue to simmer on low. Simmer for 40-60 minutes depending on taste. 

  4. Option to add some tomato paste and pasta water 

  5. When finished, pour the sauce over the pasta and grate some cheese of your choice on top!
