Brands I’ve Worked With

What comes to mind when you think of your Heritage?

I form a picture of my mum at her Aga in her kitchen, dressed in her Sunday best with a blue apron on, she is cooking a roast. A Sunday staple during the colder months. My six siblings and I are waiting to go to church when Dad comes in from the garden, chuffed with his homegrown veggies ready to be prepped for lunch. After church we eagerly anticipate a loud call from dad announcing ‘lunch is ready!’ and all sit at the table to eat. As is usual, the youngest of us would be served first and we will be fervently guarding our plates from the eldest four until Dad has said grace. After lunch, mum puts a large apple crumble she prepared that morning into the Aga. Once the crumble has been demolished we all head out for a dog walk.

This is my Heritage. Watching my mum master her ability to feed nine mouths three times a day must have instilled a desire to produce the best home-cooked meals possible, ever seeking the high of gaining approval from those I feed. Combined with my desire to help others, I studied nutrition before setting up a clinic helping others change their diets to improve their health. This led me to the belief that wholesome, home-cooked meals are the foundation of a healthy lifestyle - some say the old ways are the best and I am certainly not arguing.

I have decided to explore my thesis through my Heritage series, on a voyage to discover how the generations before us ate. This is only possible by engaging with people from all cultures and asking; what is your Heritage?
